USA Taekwondo: Massachusetts State Championships

The deadline for registering the USATKD Mass State Championships is April 18. USATKD members can log into their membership and look for the tournament under "events".

For the second year, Instructors Robin and Robert are signed up to compete and are looking forward to seeing you there!

Instructors Robin and Robert receive coach certification from USATKD, the US Olympic organization for Taekwondo

Instructors Robin and Robert recently passed the certification testing for both sparring and forms events.  Their credentials were published to the USATKD membership site this week.

 They are looking forward to sharing their new knowledge with their students.

Instructor Robin is now certified as a Poomsae Coach

 

Instructor Robin has completed the training and testing requirements and is now a certified USATKD Poomsae Coach.  His next goal is sparring certification. 

We're excited for our other instructors who are pursuing their USATKD Certifications.

Reduced outdoor training schedule for late fall and winter 2023

Training at the Dracut High School complex will only take place weather permitting.

2023 USA Taekwondo Competition Rules

The Competition Rules for Kyorugi (sparring), Poomsae (forms), and Kyopak (breaking) have been updated for 2023:

Students should be familiar with the updated rule sets, especially the modified head contact rules.

Sparring gear info 2023

Once a student passes their yellow stripe test, it is time to get sparring gear.

The school has WT compliant head and chest protectors that will be shared.

The students will need to purchase WT compliant forearm, shin, gloves, and footgear.  Contact any instructor to place an order to take advantage of the wholesale club discount.

Students will need to purchase their own mouth guard.  White or clear is best.

THE MOUTH GUARD CANNOT BE ANY SHADE OF RED.  Red, orange, purple, pink are not acceptable and the student will not be allowed to spar.

Students of ALL genders will need to purchase groin protection to be worn under the uniform.  Our instructors use this particular brand, but anything similar should work.
