Working on instructor bios

We're currently working on full bios of our instructors.

All of our instructors hold rank recognized by the Kukkiwon and the US Olympic organization, USATKD.

We're also working on a tribute page for our Grandmaster Roger Rodriguez.

Our club was formed when Grandmaster was trapped outside the country by the pandemic, trying in some small way to fill the enormous gap left by his absence.

Debut of the new t-shirts!

Monday was the debut of the new shirts ordered from Threads located right here in Dracut on Lakeview Avenue across from where we train every evening.
You can see for yourself the quality.  These were taken before we started training.  You can imagine that they didn't look quite so fresh after an hour of hard training in 90 degree weather.

You might also notice we're wearing masks.  We wear masks while training to demonstrate that it's not difficult, even when training hard in summer weather.

Wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID19 is based on science and data from multiple sources.

Want to participate in class and forgot a mask?  If you arrive early enough, Threads has several designs for sale.

New banners arrived!

Friday we were proud to be displaying our new banners.  We're looking forward to sharing our knowledge of Olympic Taekwondo.

Our commitment-free public socially distant classes are free and will be free as long as the weather lets us hold class outside.

Now is the time to explore this great sport

Free public socially distant Olympic Taekwondo Classes

Start your journey to a healthy new life today by attending free Olympic Taekwondo Classes.

Join us weekdays from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM for socially distant classes provided by qualified instructors.

There will NEVER be a cost for these free public classes.

The classes are held at or near the gazebo on the front lawn of the Englesby School in Dracut, MA:

If there is rain, the class will move to a covered area within the high school complex.

If there is lightning there will be no class.

New banners on the way!

With a little luck and help from the postal service, we are going to retire our home-made sign.

Back in April when we started our free socially-distant classes we needed something to let people know what we were doing so we made a hand-painted sign advertising the free classes.  We know it's worked  because every night we have supporters honking, cheering, and waving as they drive by.  Just last night someone called out to our lead instructor by name to encourage us.

But that sign is getting tired.  We train in rain and sun and the sign was never meant for that kind of exposure.

Our new banners will hopefully be arriving in time for Friday's class on the lawn in front of the Englesby School.

Cardio and kicking tonight

Last night after the warm-up the lead instructors focused on testing the documentation for the one-step sparring.  With a black belt test coming later this year it's a priority to formalize the curriculum.

Unfortunately that meant after the warm-up was done everyone cooled down pretty quick.

We make up for that tonight.  High impact kicking and cardio are planned for tonight's class.

If you come tonight, bring water and a towel, you're going to need it.

Great news: We are now an Olympic sanctioned club!

After completing background checks, SafeSport certification, and membership applications, this weekend we completed the process for registering our club with USATKD, the US Olympic Taekwondo organization.

USATKD club membership brings many benefits including training and certification as well as access to USATKD events. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with USATKD.
